Dare to Flare?

Some of us may say, "Been there, done that!" when you hear that the seventies are definitely back and from what it looks like here to stay.  With this come the platform heels, the oversized sunglasses, fur vests, but my personal favorite... the FLARE jeans! 

Whether you start with a small flare or go full fledged bell bottom, there are definitely lots of options this season. Pair them with a long tee and sky high wedges or for a casual day some flat sandals and a sweet summer tunic.  Whatever the case maybe this trend will continue in fall so find your favorite pair now!

MAXImize your fashion this season!!!

Whether it is in prints or solids there could not be a bigger trend this season than the maxi skirt.  Although these skirts scream comfort and are completely versatile one may be cautious assuming that it can only be pulled off by those of us who are atleast 5'9" and have legs for days.  Fear not ladies, words from the mouth of my 5 foot 4 inch self we can all wear the maxi skirt and look fabulous as long as you know HOW...

1. This Summer...Look for skirts (especially if you are investing) that can be worn in both summer and fall (if it's a light weight cotton or jersey you know it will only be your summer love). The American Apparel Mid Length Skirt below (sister to the maxi but hits mid calf) is a great example of a skirt that is totally versatile.  This summer tuck in a tee and accessorize with wedges and a great belt.  If your feet need a rest pair a maxi with some flat sandals and accessorize with some fabulous costume jewelry to dress up the look!

2. Looking forward to Fall...as the temperature drops throw a sweater and skinny belt over your skirt.  Add some boots or some tights with lace up booties and you can easily convert this summer staple into your fall wardrobe!

BRIGHTEN up your day with a little COLOR!!!

It's everywhere this season and after a long and dreary winter nothing could make me happier than adding some COLOR to my wardrobe!  I'm not talking pastels but with color this season brighter is better. Whether it is a smidge in the form of a handbag or head to toe brights, color is key this season and for the first time in a long time is a trend all on its own!

The assortments are so vast this season and color is everywhere but how to do it right? Keep these things in mind and you can successfully BRIGHTEN up your day with a little (or a lot of...) COLOR!!!

1. Head to toe?  There are no rules against wearing a great bright colored top with a different colored bottom. It is just about doing it right.  Pair a lighter bright blue skirt with a tucked in loose fitting orange colored tunic but neutralize your accessories! Go for nude colored patent pumps and a light beige skinny belt.  When going bright head to toe keep your accessories toned down!
2. Add some color to your work day! Is your work wear 99.9% black and grey?  Brighten up your wardrobe (and day) by pairing black trousers with some bright deep blue or purple pumps or substitute your normal day bag with a red clutch or handbag.
3. Be confident! You will definitely stand out in a crowd in color but embrace it and be comfortable.  Bringing some color into your wardrobe will boost your mood and therefore your confidence!
