Embrace Being a Lady This Fall...

HELLO AGAIN!!! agirl2shop4u is alive and well.  She has just been MIA in her recent move to Hong Kong (more to come on agirl2shop4u in Asia ;)) but she is back!!!

For now let's get straight to the trend for Fall that has been on my mind lately and we are seeing it from big name brands all over the world. What I like to call Ladylike and Lustful at the same time.  No more is the "dirty" casual glam rock of the highest priority on the fashion list however this season it's all about embracing being a lady.

The fashion house that embodied all that is Ladylike and Lustful in Fall 10 is Prada. A nod to the 50's and what it is to dress like a woman.  All looks that went down the runway were classic: bold silhouettes in dresses, full skirts, and just a touch of ruffle. Looks that embraced the figure of a woman while also showing just a little bit of skin.

So now the question...how to apply this look to your wardrobe?  What to look for?  And...above all where to find it at the right price?

Personally in these adding pieces to my fall wardrobe I look for 2 things:
1. Dresses in bold silhouettes that accentuate the figure
2. Full A-line skirts with feminine appeal

Here are a few of my favorites anywhere between $30 and $240...

DRESSES
WHAT TO LOOK FOR: Dresses with higher neckline and boat neck should be shorter in length while dresses with lower neckline should be full in the bottom and longer in length

(Removable halter strap so you can wear it two ways!)

Nordstroms Maggy London Silk Dress $148

SKIRTS
WHAT TO LOOK FOR: A-line, A-line, A-line!  The more volume the better! Pair it with a tucked in button up woven with military inspired pockets and rolled sleeves OR with a camisole and cardigan.
(Wear it anyway you want!  This skirt has bendable metal so you create the shape)

All Eyes on San Francisco Designer Danielle Pettee

Danielle in her SF Studio

"Leather to me is like diamonds." The words of Danielle Pettee as we sat in her San Francisco studio late last week looking through her new line just recently shown in Charity Fashion Show, the largest fashion show on the West Coast.  I couldn't agree with her more.  For me her dresses were love at first sight not only because they are absolutely fashion forward but the detail and craftsmanship alone is why I decided I had to have one.

In this most recent collection Danielle's hand painted fabrics and leather detailing make each and every piece one of a kind.

My favorite piece from the collection and personal purchase

Incredible leather detailing

Handpainted fabrics throughout the collection

Feminine on edge detailing

The designers most recent collection and wall of INSPIRATION

agirl2shop4u is in LOVE with Zac Posen for Target!!!

I thought it would be a great idea to go look at the new Zac Posen for Target collection this past week.  "Look" being the key word.  I walked out 45 minutes and $214 later with a huge smile on my face and absolute AMAZEMENT in this collaboration.

Loving this new purchase:

After the last collection by John Paul Gautier which was honestly somewhat of a disappointment I have a renewed faith in Target's Go International program.  Not only did the collection include everything from suiting to swimwear but the fabric quality was incredible!  And the best thing of all... incredible prices for ICONIC pieces that will add excitement to any wardrobe.

Here are just some of my favorites...

(a MUST HAVE)

(this has already become a staple item in my wardrobe)

If you haven't already get to your nearest Target or go online to shop while this fabulous collection is still available: Zac Posen for Target.  Also a word to the wise the tops are oversized however the dresses run on the small side so you may want to try on prior to purchasing ladies.  HAPPY SHOPPING!

Lux Up the Lounge!!!

The LEGGING has REVOLUTIONIZED!!! You find it in faux leather, leopard print, disguised as denim, and even sequin!!!  The legging has always been present season after season however NOW more than ever it has taken over to the point where a "pant" has definitely taken the back seat.  Not only is the legging bigger than ever but we are seeing the mix of fitted bottoms with oversized sweatshirts, t-shirts, sweaters...

There is a massive push to LUX UP THE LOUNGE!!!  Why not?  When done the right way it looks great and it is really COMFORTABLE!  What's also nice is this look takes away from the mid section and can really elongate the legs.  Best of all you can find great items without emptying your wallets.  Below I'm wearing my favorite leggings: Forever 21 Shiny Leggings in Matte Black Lame (also available at American Apparel and Nordstroms).

                  American Apparel Shiny Leggings $46

SO...WHAT TO LOOK FOR WHEN SHOPPING???

THE LEGGING
Have fun with print, material, etc especially if pairing with a solid color on top.  If the top is too exciting then go with a solid color legging most likely black or grey.
What's important?....
1. Make sure the FIT is right.  The waist band should not cut into your hips.  If it does go up in size until you feel comfortable. The legging should be fitted to your butt so that the material doesn't sag in the middle.
2. LENGTH!!! The longer length adds a dressier element to the look.  The legging hem should hit the middle of your ankle.
3. SHOES: Go with a heel that will elongate your legs and helps to balance out the more relaxed fit of the top.  If it is a casual summer day go for a t-strap flat sandal with studs (something fun with a lux appeal).

Here are some of my favorite leggings out there for UNDER $50 (Believe me if you love them go back and by a few...)

TOP IT OFF...
Make the top contrast your leggings by choosing a relaxed fit top in either a solid or print depending on your legging. Just make sure...
1. Depending on what makes YOU COMFORTABLE the bottom hem of your top should hit your leg somewhere between right below your butt and the middle of your thigh.
2. Find some fun costume jewelry and throw on an oversized long necklace with a crew neck sweatshirt or v neck tee.  Remember it's all about LUX UP THE LOUNGE.  Here are my favorites:

              TOPSHOP Heart Cardigan $80
